Cafe du Monde is a must when you visit New Orleans. It’s touristy, but worth making a stop when you’re in the French Quarter. This spot has been serving up French doughnuts and coffee since 1862. Probably the most recognizable item from there is the can of chicory coffee with an illustration of their shop. Their best (and kinda only) best-seller are their beignets. Think of fried up doughnuts, without the hole, topped with loads of confectioner’s sugar. It’s best eaten hot with a cup of coffee or chocolate milk. You can’t have just one (really, one order comes in 3).

There’s always a crowd of people during the day but open to walk in 24/7. Just remember if you are getting a table just walk in and look for an empty one. Servers are busy taking orders. However, if you’re getting an order on the go please wait in line by the takeout window.
